Information on Access Restrictions

Advent City 2026

As of July 2026

Traffic Restrictions During Advent

Dear residents of Quedlinburg,
dear business owners, and dear lodging providers,

As was the case during the Königstage festival, there will also be special access regulations for the historic downtown area during Advent in den Höfen (Advent in the Courtyards). The goal of these measures is to ensure that the event runs as smoothly as possible and, above all, that it is conducted safely for everyone involved (residents, merchants, businesses, and hospitality providers, as well as visitors).

Special regulations and safety measures will be implemented specifically for “Advent in the Courtyards.” This applies to the following dates:
• Saturday, Nov. 28 | Sunday, Nov. 29
, 2026• Saturday, Dec. 5 | Sunday, Dec. 6, 2026•
Saturday, Dec. 12 | Sunday, Dec. 13, 2026

In addition, restrictions will be in place throughout the entire duration of the Christmas market.

Please note that changes to these measures may occur even on short notice. Please check this page regularly for updates.

As you know, our World Heritage City Quedlinburg welcomes thousands of visitors from near and far during the Advent season. The high number of visitors inevitably leads to restrictions on public roads. During  Advent in den Höfen (Advent in the Courtyards), as well as during the periods before and after when visitor traffic is heavy, major streets will be closed to passenger cars and delivery vehicles via permanent access barriers.

Detailed overview starting in September

At this point, following consultation with all relevant law enforcement agencies, we are providing the detailed closure times and locations. We expect to be able to ensure this through September 30, 2026.
