Quedlinburg, the Advent City, with its Christmas market and the “Advent in the Courtyards” event, attracts thousands of visitors from all over Germany and beyond. The special atmosphere in this World Heritage City is truly unique. But there is much more to the Advent City... In the shadow of the Gernrode Collegiate Church of St. Cyriakus, visitors of all ages are always welcomed to the “Advent in the Collegiate Courtyard” on the third weekend of Advent. The town of Bad Suderode looks back on a long mining tradition. This tradition is commemorated with the “Grubenlichtermarkt” (Mining Lights Market) and the “Bergparade” (Mining Parade). The “Living Advent Calendar” is unique in Germany. Every day from December 1st to 24th, a door opens on the Schlossberg, and there is a surprise in store for guests of all ages.
